Kenneth Mc Mahon

Owner & Plumber – LeakSOS

About me

I'm Kenneth Mc Mahon, and LeakSOS is the standard I stand over.

Plumbing wasn’t something I picked; it picked me. I completed school, picked up a set of tools, and for the first three years, I honestly hated it. Couldn’t understand why it was so complicated. But I stuck with it, learned from the best, and slowly it clicked. Looking back now, those tough years shaped me more than I knew at the time.

I had old-school mentors who didn’t let anything slide. “Work like someone’s watching you.” “If you can’t proudly write your name on a job, don’t leave it half-arsed.” That’s how I was taught — to be proud of my work, own my mistakes, and never cut corners. One boss once told me, as I ran into a flooded house, “If the plumber isn’t the calmest person in the room, how can the customer trust you?” That stuck with me for life.

When the recession hit, I’d just qualified. Jobs disappeared overnight. I spent a year unemployed, convinced this couldn’t be the career I was meant to live. So I looked further. I went to Norway for six months doing commercial plumbing. Then I moved to New Zealand for two years, grafting and learning every day. Those years abroad taught me resilience — to keep moving, keep learning, and never let go of the trade I’d worked so hard to master.

Being a tradesman runs in the family. My dad was a bricklayer, my uncles are plumbers and electricians, and my brother’s an electrician too. I grew up on building sites, learning the value of hard work with my dad by my side. He always told me: “If you expect everyone to match your standard, you’ll be disappointed. But never let their standards drag yours down.” That’s the mindset I’ve carried into every job since.

Over the years I’ve worked on domestic, commercial, industrial plumbing, and even civil drainage. I’ve worked for companies where you’re just a number, and others where the director knows your brother’s name. I’ve had nightmare bosses, and I’ve had bosses I’d do anything for. Through it all, I learned who I want to be: honest, reliable, dependable — the plumber who shows up when he says he will, gives 100% every time, and stands over his work.

Plumbing isn’t just pipes and fittings to me — it’s problem-solving, it’s responsibility, it’s trust. It’s like adult LEGO with water, and I genuinely love it. Every call-out is a chance to take someone’s stress away and put things right.

That’s why I started LeakSOS. To build a service people can depend on when they need it most. With transparent pricing, top-quality work, and the simple promise of showing up at the time I said I would. If you can’t trust me to do the easy parts, how could I expect you to trust me with the hard parts?

At the heart of LeakSOS is trust. Whether it’s a late-night callout, a heating repair, or a full bathroom renovation, my promise is the same: clear pricing, quality work, and showing up when I say I will.
